New Phone Blues
Many people get excited by getting a new cell phone. Not me, and that is why I held on to my last one for almost 5 years (a dinosaur in cell phone age) and it ended with the phone dead and me broken.
I was trying to be frugal. Brand new phones are expensive and my old one worked. (I will not say GOOD!) Now I realize I could have gotten a cheaper but way better used one and saved myself so many headaches.
First problem with a new phone is that it needs a new case because it's slippery and just begging to be dropped and broken. It took a whole morning for my overthinking ass just to order new cases and get my ringtones back.
Now everything has to be set up again. Make sure it has anti-virus. I need to back everything up. Connect to wifis. Re-sign into everything because nothing recognizes me, especially my favorite shopping sites with saved shopping bags. Shazam along with my favorite songs is gone. I don't have time for this!
Do I need a new size charger? For the car too? Yes of course! More money and hassle. My cute pineapple portable charger needs a new cord too. At work I had extra cords that fit my phone now those need replacing too.
And what's this pop up that keeps telling me to act, because what would I do if my phone was lost or stolen?
I lost my beloved apps, my ringtones, my organized picture albums. My private pictures. Should I pay $900 to retrieve about 40 private pictures, some being priceless pregnancy shots? I'm so emotionally attached to pictures. To me they are practically priceless and my top possession, right up there with my carefully curated clothes and my recipes.
I sometimes had people with 2 phone numbers listed in my phone, when they changed their numbers. April new, April old. I never got rid of the "old" listing because I wanted to preserve my beloved texts.
The first time I lost all my texts on my old Blackberry it nearly broke me. All memories. Most very sweet or funny or good writing material. They were like a diary of sorts. I can't remember what happened last WEEK most times so these were my memory keepers. It's like when a sibling or friend brings up a long forgotten funny memory. Priceless!
Thoughts on the new phone...
The camera on this phone is much too good...I didn't need to see every pore and blackhead on my nose! Yikes! Note to self- schedule a facial. SIGH.
Technology is great, I generally love it but I am certainly no geek about it and it frustrates me a lot too. But when it fails (and it WILL!) all hell breaks loose! So you must back that shit up! Take the time! Figure it out! Find a geek friend to help you.

Wow do I sound old today or what?
On the plus side, now I have room for TikTok. Yay!
